| Personal Background: Although I was born in Virginia, I grew up as an Air Force brat, so I moved often. I came to Johnson City 10 years ago. This is the longest I've ever lived in one place. I love the beauty of the mountains. | ||||||
| Business Description: I am the owner of Avalon Counseling. I graduated with a bachelors degree majoring in Psychology from Ohio State University. In 1992 I received my Masters Degree in Counseling/Marriage and Family Therapy from ETSU. I counseled at a church in Kingsport for a number of years and in January opened Avalon Counseling full time. I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. That means that besides being able to work with individuals, I have training in couple and family work. My areas of interest are divorce recovery, teenagers, recovery from childhood abuse and womens issues. | ||||||
| Hobbies & Special Interests: I have a special interest in exploring the mind/body/spirit connection. In the fall, I'll be training in the use of hypnosis in therapy. I think that training will be helpful to my clients and will bridge my professional and personal interests. I'm rekindling my interest in bridge and golf. Both of which I've enjoyed in the past - even at my limited skill level!!! Reading and traveling are also interests of mine. But, alas, I don't have enough time for the one, and not enough money for the other. | ||||||
