Business Description: I am owner of Linda Stewart Couture Designs. I specialize in making couture-wedding gowns and ladies evening and formal wear. I especially love designing wedding gowns that match the bride's personal taste. I can provide my clients with the perfect fit, custom design, and quality fabric associated with couture. Many people equate couture with high priced ready to wear clothes, but the word couture (which simply means sewing in French), denotes so much more. First, couture means that the garment is made of the finest fabrics available, usually natural fabrics, silk, linen, etc. I have access to hundreds of samples of the finest silks in the world. I can also obtain swatches of beautiful fabrics embellished with pearls, crystals, rhinestones, and sequins to make a truly one of a kind creation. If the fabric you choose is not beaded, I can to that to your specifications. Design is the second aspect, and allows your imagination to run wild. Remember that wedding gown you dreamed about as a little girl? Well I can make it! Patterns are not needed. I draft my own patterns so you are not limited to someone else's designs. Just describe to me your gown, and I'll draw it out for you to see. You can choose the exact neckline, length of sleeves, most flattering waistline, and have the train be as long or as short as you want. If you are looking for a gown with a distinctive European flair, I have available over 400 patterns from La Sposa Marfy a wonderful Italian design house, that are not otherwise locally available. The third part of couture is probably the most important, it is the fit. Couture gowns should be as comfortable as they are lovely. Measurements are taken, and a muslin of the garment is made. All corrections are dealt with on the muslin until the fit is perfected. Under linings, waist stays, and spiral steel boning are all used to make the gown secure and comfortable. Then and only then is the fabric cut and basted together for a final fitting. Even at this point, small changes may be made, and then sequins, pearls, crystals and rhinestones can be added to your personal taste. As you can see, couture involves a lot of time. A wedding gown will take in excess of 80 hours to create. I offer what I believe to be the only couture dressmaking service in the Tri Cities area. Couture is truly the "ultimate mode of expression!"
