| Personal Background: I am a mother of three daughters. One is a doctor's office manager, one is a neonatal nurse, and the youngest is a SICU/MICU nurse. We attend Fellowship Church in Bristol. I returned to college with my youngest daughter and both of us graduated with honors. I have worked at a local hospital and for the foundation of Northeast State College. I was a resident counselor at a group home for girls, a counselor to teens in state custody at a large apartment complex, and at a home for unwed mothers and pregnant girls. I am currently office manager at Bridge Refugee Sponsorship Services. | ||||||
| Business Description: Bridge is the state relocation and resettlement center for refugees arriving in TN. We have resettled over 200 families from all parts of Asia, Africa, and the former Soviet Union. We have offices in Knoxville and Chattanooga. We find sponsors for a family or individual before they arrive here. Sponsors find temporary homes and assist with employment and furnishing the essentials the refugee needs. They are assisted with everyday activities such as enrolling their children in school, registering for social security, and learning their way around a new hometown. We have over a 95% employment rate among those employable. Our biggest handicap is language barriers. | ||||||
