Management Empowerment Techniques For Women by Sally Phillips of The Tree Of Life
Often times we are far too busy running our business, just keeping our heads above water to either remember or to learn new tricks of management...this article will hopefully give you a thumb nail list of hints for success with your business.
- When attending meeting, seminars, etc., always wear your name badge on your RIGHT shoulder - (Most women put these on the left shoulder.), the reason being, when you shake hands, the person's eye travels up the right arm to the shoulder and connects with the name badge, at the same time you are verbally introducing yourself, ( thus double reinforcement).
- Always "WALK TALL", with a purpose, when you walk with a purpose, YOU are in charge, and you will be noticed.
- Never apologize for how you look, the client is interested in your PRODUCT or SERVICE, not you as an individual.
- Always dress professionally, (Never wear curlers to the grocery store.) you never know who you will meet.
- When traveling...always walk tall with a purpose, dress in a suit, and you will be treated as you present yourself to the public.
- Never think you know what your client "really wants", give them several areas of thought and alternatives, remember you are the professional.
- Do not wear heavy signature perfumes, many times our clients have allergies and cannot handle this and may choose another business.
- Have at least 3 phone numbers where you may be contacted or one number that will ring at your office, cell phone and home. (If your client cannot reach you, they may choose another more accessible business.
- Always return calls promptly -- your next million dollar sale may depend upon returning that one call you missed! One mistake or un-returned call can cost a major customer.
- Never make your client feel insignificant, or talk down to them. Treat people as you like to be treated, courteously, interested in what they have to say and ALWAYS THANK THEM FOR THEIR BUSINESS!
- When calling on new clients, or networking, have something that is uniquely yours, that will impress the client enough to remember you.
- When attending seminars or meetings, use the same initiative you used to start your business...take the lead and introduce yourself and have a business card to exchange, plus perhaps a pad with your business imprinted upon it or some other type of gimmick. - Always be on time. If you have to be late, call the client. This shows you are not only busy, but that you do care about the client.
- Have colored folders printed that will tell your story for you. Pictures and print in black and white are just ok, but colored ones speak a thousand words. Give clear, concise, and interesting but informative facts about your business.
- When you hire people to work "For or With" you...always remember, these people are representing YOU and YOUR COMPANY. Therefore, train, teach and educate these people so that you feel confident that it is your message going out to the public and not the ideas and attitudes of your employee.
- Keep your customers happy...it has been noted that 96% of unhappy customers never complain, but that 90% or more who are unhappy will not come back, but each of those unhappy customers will tell his or her story to at least 9 or 10 other people and 13% of those unhappy customers will tell their stories to more than 20 people.
- What is your "Success Formula"? If it is quality, service and value...you have found it!
- To excel in customer service, a company, no matter how small must have their employees share a commitment to provide superior service.
All of the above points will help ensure success in your business.
