| Personal Background: I am 38 years old, married with three children. I am a mother first, then a wife, and then a Office Manager. Needless to say, time for me, like many of you, who juggle career and family, is a valuable commodity. I have a varied background. My father was a construction worker, who never stayed in one spot very long. Therefore I gained a lot of experience with meeting people. I started work at a young age of 17, as an Assistant Manager of Long John Silvers. I have managed Lumber Company in Kentucky, worked in the Special Education Department of the George Peabody College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, Tennessee, worked for the Nashville Symphony Association as a Development Assistant in their Fund Drive endeavors. I have worked for a newspaper, in editing, advertisment construction, and typesetting. I have aso worked in the Radiation Oncology Department in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, worked as a Ward Clerk and am now working as the Office Manager for a Physical Therapy Inpatient and Outpatient Clinic. I also am the Office Manager for Helping Hand, Inc., a home health physical therapy agency, as well as representing Sarah's Daughters, a non-profit organization, as their Women's Ministry Coordinator and editor/publisher of their monthly newsletterwith a circulation of over 300. | ||||||

| Community Activities: I am the Women's Ministry Coordinator representing "Sarah's Daughters." We are a group of ladies of 45+ members who wish to help fulfill the unmet needs in their community. These needs change frequently, but include, food and clothing donations to the local food banks, Hope House in Norton, to servicing needy members in their own churches. Paper products as well as cleaning aides have also been donated, collected for area needs. I publish a monthly Newsletter, Sarah's Daughters, which has grown from 25 issues a month to now over 300 within 1 1/2 years! Sarah's Daughters is co-hosting, with Love Ministries from Kingsport, Tennessee, a Women's Ministry Retreat. It will take place at King College in Bristol, Tennessee on August 7, 8, 9, 1998. the retreat theme is "Beacons." We want to teach other women how to be a light in their communities. Bruce Marchiano, and Tammy Tkach will be among the featured speakers. We expect reservations from 250 women from the surrounding areas as well as from many nearby states. | ||||||
| Hobbies & Special Interests: Among my favorite hobbies, reading and writing top the list. I also am a genealogy buff, and have traced my family history back over 12 generations into Scotlant and Ireland, and even the Icelandic areas of Europe. I publish a newsletter monthly, which I enjoy very much. I also surf the web whenever time permits. I have friends from all over the United States, and I chat with them as often as I can, and I tend to "drag" them into whatever project I have going at the present time. I have also prepared a presentation for women's groups, and will be presented at the Beacons Retreat this summer, entitled "How to Become A Person Of Influence." It's based on mentoring the ones we love, those in our communities, and churches. I also am an avid fan of music, of any kind. I enjoy singing, mostly gospel, but I love all types. I started playing the guitar when I was 11 years old. I sing in my church, at church funcitons and enjoy participating in area musical events. In my spare time I also like to do Indian Beadwork. My husband is a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America. I am currently involved in a project to make the beadwork for the Indian Ceremonial Dancers for the Order of the Arrow Organization, which is a part of the Boy Scouts of America. The Order of the Arrow is their service organization. It's very time consuming, though I enjoy it very much. I think the traditions of the ancient peoples in our area, whether it is Indian culture or Appalachian tradition, needs to be taught to the younger generations for these all important traditions will be gone. | ||||||
